How Does Equine Shockwave & Ultrasound Therapy Work?
- Pneumatic Shockwave Therapy
Pneumatic shockwave therapy uses compressed air to accelerate a projectile inside the handpiece, generating mechanical pressure pulses through the applicator. These pulses deliver mechanical stimulation to the targeted area.
Practitioners can adjust the pressure, frequency, and applicator head according to the intended treatment area and professional assessment.
- Therapeutic Ultrasound
Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to deliver acoustic energy into soft tissues. Depending on the treatment settings, it can produce thermal and non-thermal effects.
The 1 MHz ultrasound function provides adjustable intensity and treatment duration, offering an additional modality for professionally supervised equine rehabilitation programs.
Equine Therapy Applications
1. Tendon & Ligament Rehabilitation
Supports veterinarian-directed rehabilitation programs for selected tendon and ligament injuries, particularly in horses exposed to repetitive training and physical strain.
2. Joint, Bone & Hoof Rehabilitation
Provides additional therapy options for selected joint, bone, and hoof-related conditions, helping professionals develop individualized rehabilitation plans.
3. Muscle & Soft Tissue Therapy
Offers adjustable shockwave and ultrasound settings for selected muscle and soft tissue applications, including concerns associated with training and physical exertion.
4. Sports Injury & Performance Recovery
Supports structured rehabilitation programs for racing, jumping, dressage, and other athletic horses recovering from injuries or physical strain.
Product Features
Flexible Treatment Settings for Different Equine Needs
- Built-In Equine Programs for Quick Setup
The machine includes preset programs for 10 anatomical areas, including the neck, shoulder, back, pelvis, hip, and limbs. Practitioners can access suggested settings and applicator options directly from the touchscreen, reducing the need to configure each treatment manually.
- Adjustable Settings for Different Applications
Shockwave pressure ranges from 1–12 Bar, with frequencies from 1–21 Hz and adjustable impact counts from 500–5,000. The ultrasound function offers intensity settings from 0.1–3.0 W/cm² and treatment times from 1–60 minutes, providing flexibility for different professional applications.
Multiple Shockwave Heads for Targeted Treatment
The shockwave handpiece comes with 9 interchangeable treatment heads from 6 mm to 38 mm, allowing practitioners to adjust the contact area according to the treatment site and target tissue. Smaller heads provide more concentrated stimulation for localized areas, while larger heads distribute acoustic energy across broader muscle and soft tissue regions—giving equine professionals greater flexibility when treating different anatomical areas.
Dual Air Pump Configuration with Filtration System
Equipped with dual air pumps, a filtration system and efficient cooling, the machine maintains a stable air supply while helping control internal heat during operation. This supports consistent pneumatic shockwave performance and reliable daily use in equine clinics, veterinary practices and rehabilitation facilities.
Why Add This System to Your Equine Practice?
2-in-1 Treatment Capability
Use shockwave and therapeutic ultrasound within one rehabilitation system.
Broader Equine Applications
Support tendon, ligament, muscle, joint and sports-related rehabilitation needs.
Flexible Treatment Control
Adjust pressure, frequency, impacts, ultrasound intensity and treatment time according to different treatment objectives.
Built for Professional Daily Use
Dual air pumps, filtration and cooling support stable operation in veterinary and equine rehabilitation environments.

Usage & Maintenance Guidelines
- Use Coupling Gel
Apply coupling gel or a suitable lubricant to the treatment area. Avoid allowing gel or liquid to enter the treatment head. - Avoid Prolonged Continuous Operation
Although the shockwave handpiece is designed to reduce vibration, prolonged continuous use may cause hand fatigue. Take appropriate breaks during extended treatments. - Replace Worn Applicator Heads
Treatment heads are consumable parts and should be inspected regularly and replaced when worn or damaged. - Shockwave Handpiece Maintenance
The internal projectile of the shockwave handpiece is a wear component. According to the supplied instructions, replacement is recommended after approximately 2 million impacts. - Clean the Filter Cups Regularly
Check the filter cups regularly and drain accumulated liquid when necessary. Place absorbent paper underneath before opening the drain valve to prevent spills.
